How many of you have used Pivot table? If you haven’t, my suggestion is start using! , it is an idea that can change your life :P , that was inspired by the IDEA commercial :p  but I mean it, it is an extremely useful tool if you are working with large amounts of data .

I was already busy with my tutorials and handling many ventures all at once alone (of course I have my wife Sushma’s backing) is making me all the more busy. At the same time, I need to master my skills to share with you. In this process, I just remembered one tip on pivot table.

Pivot Cache and its Advantage (pivot tip)

Excel Tips, Pivot Tutorial

Hi there,

This is a follow-up of my last pivot table posts. When you try to create a pivot table summary report from the raw dump, the pivot will display the summary but what will happen in the background. Does any body know? The pivot table actually hold the cache of the data and even when the raw dump changes the pivot summary will not take effect because cache takes control of the raw data. The summary will change, until and unless the pivot get refreshed or hitting F9 from keyboard. Am, I right?. So, what I mean to say is, the cache memory will keep the data while preparing its summary in Excel.

excel_usage, Excel Tips, Pivot Tutorial

Hi There,

Today, when I was taking a class on PIVOT, one of my student asked this question and I found it challenging, not exactly but found two different methods to achieve this. So, thought of sharing with you. The Pivot Challenge is as below:

Grouping Animals like in Pivots in excel website

"How to Group Dates from Monday to Sunday using Pivot Table?"

Initially, I felt like pivot class is almost getting over and why is he asking grouping again (I covered group by words and other concepts yesterday). Any how, I should give him an answer. So, I took an example workbook where the starting day of the dump is from Thursday (08/02/2007) and the requirement to group the dates are opened cases on or after 08/25/2014. (08/25/2014 is Monday).
