MIS LABELLED AS AUTO-FILTER
How-to's, Excel TipsHi there,
This is something amazing happening in Excel. Do you know auto-filter option is labelled incorrectly in Excel. It is actually functioning like "filter by selection". As I remember, If some one find's flaws in FACEBOOK they will reward us, if we inform them. Similarly, if MICROSOFT team is giving then it should come to one of our Excel user. Let us see what I am speaking about and Am I saying correct?
...
Just bring AUTO-FILTER feature to your Quick Access Toolbar. To do this GoTo Office Button (in excel 2007) or File Button (in excel 2010 and above or below 2007 version) -->Excel Options -->Quick Access Toolbar --> In Choose Commands from, choose "All Commands" from dropdown by replacing "Popular Commands". Now choose AUTO-FILTER and add it to Quick Access Toolbar, click OK.
GoTo your data and click on any of the cell except headers and then use filter option in QAT. See how it behaves with the data. It filters only selection, right?
But, when you use filter option in the DATA ribbon, it only adds filter to the data. It will not behave like the filter in QAT behaves. That means this option in QAT is named incorrectly. This would have been called as "FILTER BY SELECTION".
DO YOU USE AUTO-FILTER?
