Convert Text to General (3 easy ways to do)
Excel TipsHi there,
Here is a time saving tip for you all. Do you guys come across converting a data in Excel from Text to General? I believe this is a regular task for whom the data is exporting from different applications. Am I right? Yes, I know you agree. For those who are using this feature please let me know once you complete this post like which tip helped you a lot out of these 3 different shortcuts.
Now, we will proceed to see one by one here:
...
1. Select the data and go to HOME ribbon and choose General in Number format.
2. Select the column which needs to convert from text to general and use TEXT to COLUMN feature in Data Tools group of DATA ribbon.
3. Select the whole data and hold CTRL + SHIFT and hit TILT button (below ESC in laptop, and before numeric 1 in top row of normal keyboards).
Note: Here select the whole data means select the data which you need to convert from Text to General.
MY FAVOURITE OPTION IS:
My favourite one is option 3. It will save lot of time while using vlookup when comparing two lists. Now, It's your turn to say which option is more easy for you to use. Post your comments in the below comment section.
