Reverse FirstName with LastName & Vise Versa
Formulas, Excel TipsHi there,
In this post, we will discuss about how to change firstname with lastname and lastname with firstname. This is very easy to do. Here we are not even using LEFT or RIGHT functions to do so.
Here we go:
In our latest post, Extract Only Names from Outlook email, used same technique to extract Names. Similarly we will use same technique to extract first name and last name to the different columns and concatenate firstname first and lastname last to replace. Might be bit confusing but very simple and easy concept. Look at the images below to illustrate the example.
...
In Column A, keep the names and in column B extract firstname by using find and replace option (next to find what give space and type * (star) and in replace with place keep it blank and click on select all). This will extract firstname. Similarly, extract last name in column C using find and replace option. (next to find option type * (star) and give space here).
Now, concatenate column C and column B to replace firstname with lastname and lastname with firstname.
Note:
1. Makesure the middlename will not be available to apply this technique in your data.
2. Makesure the cell contains only data not formula.
That's it. Magic works.
