Hi there,
All excel users will be aware of how to use sum and autosum feature. First let me tell you, SUM and AUTOSUM functions are one and the same. This is what conceptionally thinking by everyone. However it is actually not.
If you want to defend with my statement, you can definitely, but for now proceed with me and by the end of this post, you will actually join your hands with me.
USING SUM FUNCTION:
...
As you all know, We have an inbuilt function called SUM. If you use =SUM(value1, value2,...value 255) you will get the result.
That's really great!
USING AUTOSUM FEATURE:
Using this feature, you can definitely sum the values by just clicking on this feature located in FORMULAS ribbon, Function Library Group corresponding to the row SUM or Column SUM.
WHAT ACCORDING TO YOU IS DIFFERENT ?
These features works similar when we need to SUM or add the whole range However, is it possible to autosum for particular range or particular cells. No! this is not possible by using AUTOSUM.
But, you can definitely use SUM function to partial range or range of cells by using CTRL (control) key.
AUTOSUM will sum the whole range even if you use this features after few blank cells, considering blank cells. But SUM function will sum the range and display the result just below the range of values, either for row values or column values.
Now, is it clear! why I am defending these both are not same.
That's it.
DID YOU KNOW DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SUM & AUTOSUM?
