How to Filter Bold Cells in Excel?
How-to's, Excel TipsHi there,
Today, I had a little logical challenge. That is, I have an excel sheet with few cells bolded. The client needs me to filter the data based on bold cells. Because client wants to analyze only bold items and provide some stats to his boss. He gave me very less time and the data is almost big.
I spent an expensive time on this report and came up with a simple logic. It might help you as well. So, sharing with you.
I find it very challenging, because this is the first time I came across. And, we do not have a direct feature to click and get it done. However, I cracked this challenge using ...
The logic used is FIND & REPLACE option.
HOW FIND & REPLACE WILL FILTER BOLDED CELLS?
...
Yes, this is an expected question.
Here we go:
Goto FIND & REPLACE using ALT + H [keyboard shortcut ] - ( the window shows like this)
In this window, click on Options to get the below window
Here, click on the format as highlighted and choose 2nd option "Choose Format From Cell..."
You will now routed to the cell which needs to find. In our case, we need to find the cell which contains bold font. So, I selected the cells which contains bold. And, the preview is shown as below.
and now, select the format which is besides the REPLACE option and again select "Format", the first option in the drop down. This window will help us to fill the bolded cells with some colour.Choose one colour to fill these bolded cells.
From here you understood the logic right?
"Once you fill the cell colour using Format option as shown in the above pic, now, filter that column using "filter by colour" option which is available in the column drop down."
I hope you like this tip, right?
That's it. Magic works!!!
