Explain Form Controls?
Form Controls are the original controls that are simple to use and compatible for all the Excel versions (I think since version 5). These controls can be used either in worksheets or user forms as well as embedded charts. Assigning macros to these controls are very simple and easy. These will return index number rather than the selected value.
Explain ActiveX Controls?
ActiveX controls are the controls which has lots of formatting options. These controls are newer than the Form controls. These will return the selected value rather than the index number.
In the earlier versions, these controls are available in VIEW-->TOOLBARS -->FORMS, while in Excel 2007, they have been moved to the DEVELOPER tab.
ActiveX controls can be used only if the user knows VBA coding because the user needs to input some code to execute the controls whereas Form controls are very simple and easy to execute and it doesn't require to use any coding.
